WELCOME TO A NEW SCHOOL YEAR!

Lincoln Elementary School

Mrs. Hesselink 3rd Grade

Welcome to Third Grade! I am delighted to have your student in my classroom this year and look forward to our 3rd Grade adventure. As a teacher, I am committed to creating an educational partnership with you and your student that will foster curiosity, determination, and a passion for learning.  In addition to this, my commitment as an educator will be to provide your student with a nurturing and challenging educational environment that will ensure academic success this year. This is going to be a very exciting year for all of us and I can’t wait to have this adventure with you!

Here is a short list of suggested items which your student can bring to the classroom.

● A box of Kleenex to share with the class

● Gallon bags

● Glue Sticks

● Indoor/Outdoor Shoes (the playground can get muddy)

● Water Bottle

● Headphones or earbuds (the school will provide small earbuds)

I provide students with their initial crayons, markers, glue, ruler, pencils, and erasers at the beginning of the school year. If you have already purchased or would like to purchase these items, your student may bring them into the classroom for individual use. Our classroom has morning snack time, in which I encourage a healthy snack. Please no candy or pop.

In our classroom we have a set of procedures that will be discussed and practiced during the first week of school. These procedures are in place to create a structured environment where students know and understand the classroom expectations. Our school wide behavior plan which our classroom will follow states; Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Ready to Learn. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. You can reach me by calling Lincoln School (635-6626 extension 5310) or email me at khesselink@eupschools.org. I believe that communication is the key to supporting and building the success of your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelsie Hesselink
